When You Are Traveling On A Budget: Finding Places To Stay For Less
Posted on: 20 October 2016
When you are traveling, whether it is for business or pleasure, one of the biggest concerns that you may have is how much it is going to cost to find places to stay in the areas in which you are traveling. If you are on a strict budget for your travel expenses, this process can sometimes be even more challenging. However, there are ways that you can minimize the expenses you have for accommodations and still enjoy your travels. Get to know a few of those ways that you can get the best deals on places to stay and get started making your plans as soon as possible.
Consider A Capsule Or Pod Hotel If Available
Depending on where in the country and the world you are traveling, there may be affordable hotel options available known as capsule or pod hotels. Capsule hotels are, perhaps, the most economical hotel options available. The concept originated in Japan but has expanded and become a global phenomenon over time.
Capsule hotels are essentially made up of capsules or pods that are essentially small beds enclosed and separated from several others like it that surround it. The capsules often have televisions, a small amount of space for a few of your possessions, and individualized air conditioning and lighting. The rest of your luggage and items are placed in a locker for safekeeping. Because you are basically renting a small bed rather than an entire room, you will get a great price and save a large amount of money while you travel.
Pod hotels are a similar option, but are slightly larger and more accommodating. Pods are small rooms that often have two or more bunks. These are shared rooms, meaning if you are traveling alone, you will likely have a roommate. However, this shared space and the small size of the room makes it a highly economical option.
Home Stays or Home Swaps
Another way that you can save a great deal of money on your travels is to consider the two similar but slightly different options of home stays and home swaps. Home stays have become extremely popular because they are so budget-conscious and short on cash.
The idea of a home stay is that you will be staying in a person's spare bedroom or even on the couch or pull-out bed. The person or people who live there will likely be staying in the residence at the same time, essentially making you a temporary boarder. To do home stays, you will need to sign up with one of the various sites or apps that match people looking for places to stay and people looking to have people stay with them.
Home swaps are a similar concept except instead of just temporarily renting out a room or a bed from someone, you will instead stay in their home while they stay in yours. This may be a good idea if you live in an area that is a popular travel or tourist destination as it will be easier for you to find someone interested in staying in your home for a few days or weeks. The sites that help to arrange such exchanges have rigorous screening processes to ensure that you and the people that you home exchange with are trustworthy and reliable.
Now that you know just a few of the many options available to you to travel and find places to stay like The Baker House 1650, you can be sure to have a great vacation.
